Meet the team
Our President, Shelley Washburn, began her career with the Ford Motor Company in Atlanta and Dallas. From there she expanded her experience to retail automotive by working for Lincoln-Mercury in sales, service, and Finance & Insurance (F&I). After attending The NADA Dealer Candidate Academy in 1988, where she was elected Class President, she joined MSX International where she led a consulting team focused on dealership process improvement. Shelley joined Gulf States Toyota in 2001 where she held field positions in New Orleans and Houston. She transferred to GS Marketing in 2005, and since then, she’s held multiple leadership positions, such as the VP of Sales, VP of Account Services, and now President.
With over 25 years of diverse automotive experience in sales leadership, marketing strategy, process reengineering and strategic account management, Shelley leads GSM corporate relationships and strategy for Toyota Motor Sales and Gulf States Toyota accounts. Shelley has a passion for mentoring and encouraging professional growth. She was a founding member and past President of the Dallas chapter of the Automotive Women’s Network.
She earned her BBA in Marketing from The University of Texas at Austin. Besides being our fearless leader, Shelley enjoys boating, gardening, and traveling.

Tom Heizer, VP of Business Development, joined GS Marketing from Gulf States Toyota where he served in numerous field and management positions and most recently as the National Sales Director. Tom brings more than 15 years of automotive experience to GSM in a wide variety of disciplines—dealership consulting, variable and fixed operations, direct marketing—you name it, Tom’s done it .
Prior to joining GST, Tom worked with the Ford Motor Company in several dealer operation capacities. He began his career in the nonprofit sector working in Economic Development and was the former President/CEO of the Rosenberg/Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce in the greater Houston area.
Tom received his MBA at the Lowry May School of Business at Texas A&M. He received his undergraduate degree from High Point University in North Carolina and graduated with honors, summa cum laude. Tom is a family guy who enjoys traveling, spending time with his family. When he can find the time, he also enjoys playing golf.

Claudia comes to GS Marketing with over 17 years of finance, accounting, and marketing experience in various industries. Most recently, she was responsible for the Finance and Accounting operations of Colinas Healthcare as a Regional Director and Assistant to the CEO. Before joining Colinas, she managed financial operations at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and Dell, Inc. where she led direct and cross-functional teams aimed at capitalizing on new opportunities. She began her career at EDS and Lucent Technologies where she spent most of her time working internationally in Europe and Latin America.
Claudia has a BBA from The University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She is active in a variety of organizations including the UT Hispanic Business Student Association, Just Because-Ministries of Hope, and is a board member and Treasurer of the Austin Harvard Business School Alumni Association. Outside of professional interests, she enjoys traveling, swimming, and most of all spending time with her family and close friends.

S R Chandrashekar, VP of Product, is a seasoned Product Manager who is passionate about harnessing innovation, pushing boundaries, and infusing team members with passion and purpose.
With over 20 years of experience managing products from strategy to execution, he has managed products from inception through end-of-life. Specializing in product strategy, product management, marketing, and development – he thrives on solving challenging problems and building products that delight.
Chandra holds both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Computer Science from the Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering.

Mike brings a lifetime of automotive experience to GS Marketing. Like many Midwesterners, Mike’s family supported the auto industry by manufacturing piston rings and bumpers, making his career path into the auto industry in Detroit seem like destiny. Mike graduated from Central Michigan University, earning an MBA from the University of Maryland University College. Mike’s 18 years of experience includes OEM roles with Ford, Acura, Scion and Toyota, and now sales and marketing with GSM. Here, he is responsible for applying dealer operations, improving sales and retention, and increasing dealership revenue. With extremely strong automotive contacts throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and Southwest, Mike is continually expanding client networks based upon dealership referrals and new process implementation.

Paige brings 14 years of automotive marketing experience to GSM, specializing in dealer consulting, sales leadership, and account management. For over 10 years with GSM, Paige has built strong relationships by helping dealers, dealer groups, and OE partners increase customer retention and acquisition. In Paige’s current role, she is responsible for managing relationships and is our go-to person for GSM’s largest clients. In addition to building relationships at work, Paige builds relationships in her community by volunteering for Junior Achievement, co-chairing an annual Women’s History Event and she sits on a local Chamber Board. In 2017 Paige completed a Managerial Leadership Certification with the University of Texas McCombs School of Business. In her free time, Paige enjoys spending time with family and friends, doing lake activities and being involved in charity events.

Director of Marketing
Michael brings over 12 years of strategic sales and marketing experience from various industries to GSM. Most recently, he served as the Global Sales & Marketing Manager for a leading geoscience company where he led a global team responsible for marketing automation and implementation of marketing strategy. Michael has a B.S. in Marketing Management from WGU Texas. He is a native Texan, a professional singer and an accomplished chef.

Kristi brings over 25 years of operational experience encompassing the disciplines of purchasing, inventory management, scheduling, manufacturing, distribution, and quality control in a variety of industries. She spent six years with Outreach, Inc., a direct marketing agency and print production company where she served as the VP of Operations. During her career, she has successfully implemented operational processes based on the principles of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement Programs based on the principles of TQM, Kaizen, and Six Sigma.
Kristi not only serves our customers, but serves her community through volunteer work with the Boy Scouts of America, Junior Achievement, and Little League Baseball. In her spare time likes to garden, scrapbook, and spends time outdoors with her family.

Director of Product Management
Mike brings over 20 years of experience working with automobile dealers and managers in a variety of roles. He started his path in the automotive vertical working for a leading DMS provider, helping dealers implement software and processes that encompassed all areas of the dealership. This global view of the automotive industry laid the foundation for his understanding of the retail challenges that both dealers and managers face daily. After this experience, Mike joined Gulf States Toyota—beginning his path within the OEM industry. His experience included serving as an overall dealership process consultant, being a District Sales Rep, and working with dealers on the launch of the Scion brand. Today, Mike is responsible for the development and ongoing improvement of GSM’s products and services, including national OEM programs that focus on driving results through exceptional customer experience and engagement.

Director of Operations
As a graduate of Michigan State University, Lisa has over 15 years of experience in the automotive industry. She started her career at Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. and worked her way through the Toyota Management Trainee program to become District Manager. After Toyota, Lisa serviced several automotive OEMs in Sales/Account Management and Program Management, specifically around Parts and Service Marketing at R. L. Polk. Since joining GSM in 2010, Lisa has led several product development efforts, and now manages the ToyotaCare and Owner Communications Program for Toyota and internal support teams.

Director of Finance
David brings more than 15 years of progressive finance, accounting, and operations experience from various industries to GSM. Most recently, he was responsible for finance and accounting operations as the Director of Finance at VGXI, Inc. Prior to joining VGXI, David’s finance and accounting career has spanned several industries, including hospitality, investment banking, investment management, and transportation.
He has a BBA from the University of Houston, and enjoys traveling, sports, and spending time with family and friends.
